Face masks mandatory on driving lessons from 30th November

DIA Insurance ADI News

Concern over new variant Omicron, and rising infection rates in general, has prompted government to mandate the wearing of face coverings in professional driving lessons.

GOV.UK states that the public and staff will be required to wear face coverings in the settings listed from 4am on 30 November 2021 and specifically highlights that face coverings must be worn in “any car, van or HGV, during a professional driving lesson, a formal driving test, or during one of the practical tests for giving driving instruction.”

The legal requirement to wear face coverings in those areas specified in the latest government advice will be reviewed in three weeks’ time. However, there has been no change in the law in Scotland or Wales and the wearing of face coverings during lessons still remains mandatory.

You can find the updated advice on GOV.UK here. With colleagues in NASP we have also updated advice on the wearing of face coverings in lessons. Click below for more advice.
